In Iran crackdown reports the mullahs’ judiciary chief approved a letter obligating Internet service providers to register information of their customers and also all their information regarding their trends on the Internet for a period of 6 months, and hand them over to the authorities if needed.
According to the state-run ISNA news agency, FATA police chief Seyed Kamal Hadianfar – involved in supervising cyberspace activity in Iran – said last week these new regulations were signed by mullahs’ judiciary chief Sadegh Amoli Larijani. FATA police had prior to these new regulations issued a statement obligating Internet Cafes to demand credible ID cards and register all their activities in cyberspace for a period of 6 months in order to provide services. Internet Cafes were also obligated to install CC cameras and preserve the images for a six-month period. |
